CALL FOR READERS
The company: Festival de la Barca is a new arts incubator in Toronto, Canada, with a emphasis on the works of Spanish Golden age playwright Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681).
The show: THE SON OF MY DELUSIONS, a new translation and adaptation of the Andromeda and Perseus plays of Calderón, by Terry Anthony Gambarotto. Based in Greek myth, this work combines comedy, drama, horror, romance, and epic, and is written in a poetic classical style.
Characters: Seeking fourteen actors, some to read multiple parts. Artists of all backgrounds and ages 18+ are invited to submit for this call.
What's required: The reading will take place on the evening of Thursday, October 16, 2025, at a venue in the Queen & Bathurst area. It will be a private event. There will be no rehearsal. Readers selected will be able to pick up scripts beforehand, although a cold reading will be acceptable for the smaller parts. Some parts have small sung sections; online materials will be provided to assist here. The reading will be video-captured. Participants will be required to sign a release.
Pay: Readers will receive an honorarium of $50 for their work. Please note this call is only open to NON-UNION actors. Payment will be at the reading on completion.
